Job Opening

Administrative Assistant
 
Purpose of Position:
Serves as primary contact for the Church Office
 
Type of Position and Expected Hours of Work:
Part-time; 15 hours per week
 
Preferred Education and Experience:
A high school diploma and two years of administrative or office experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office software. The job requires good communication skills and interfaces with both church members and the general public.
 
Major Duties:
Major Duties include but are not limited to:
-     Receive and distribute mail
-     Receive, direct and record (logs) telephone calls
-     Greet and direct individuals that arrive during office hours
-     Make appointments and special arrangements for Pastor as directed
-     Maintain accurate church membership records, both manual and automated
      using church management software
-     Record member contributions and funds received.
-     Assist in production of monthly newsletter (The Lamplighter)
-     Assist in maintenance of TUMC website and social media
-     Assist with maintenance of online calendar
-     Serve as contact for media advertising of special events and Ministry Committees
-     Work with Worship Committee for Flowers Schedule, Liturgist Schedule, and
       Acolyte & Crucifer Schedule
-     Work with Pastor and Music ministry to create and publish weekly worship bulletin
-     Serve as recording secretary for major ministry team meetings as assigned (i.e. Church      Council, Finance Committee, Trustees).

Supervision:
Works under general supervision of the Business Administrator. Routine work is to be performed independently in accordance with established instructions and practices. Supervisor will be available to define priorities and timelines for completion and assist in a situation where the Administrative Assistant may be unfamiliar or uncomfortable with the requirement of a task. Work will be reviewed for accuracy and timeliness.

Guidelines include, but not limited to, the Personnel Policy Manual of Trinity United Methodist Church, The policies of the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church, and the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church.
